The Bell UH-1 Iroquois, lovingly nicknamed "Huey", is one of the most important military utility helicopters of all time. It was developed for utility use and medical evacuation in the early 1950s and saw its first combat in the Vietnam War. There is was used for cargo transport, air assaults, evacuations, electronic warfare, search and rescue, and ground attack missions. It is still being used today by the United States, Japan, Canada, and more.

The Huey nickname came from the original HU-1 designation and remained commonplace even after the official UH-1 designation. The AH-1 Cobra attack helicopter was derived from the Huey, and multiple variants exist.
