The Lockheed T-33, known as the Shooting Star or T-Bird, worked primarily as a trainer. Most were unarmed, but some were given machine guns for gunnery training. On occasion, some could be found in frontline combat, including during the Bay of Pigs Invasion (by the Cuban Air Force) and during counter-insurgency strikes by the Indonesian Air Force in East Timor. Boeing used two T-33s as chase aircraft.
